New World Armoring Guide

Introduction

The Armoring Trade Skill in New World allows players to craft (armor) hats, shirts, gloves, pants, boots, bags and balms. We will walk you through everything you need to know about Armoring in our New World Armoring Guide.

Armoring in New World

To get started with Armoring you will need to gather resources to craft. Once the resources have been obtained you will be using the Outfitting Station (Spool of Thread icon on map) to craft light and medium armor and the Forge (Anvil on the map) to craft the heavy armor. Walk up to the respective crafting station and press your default interact button, “E”, to open the crafting window.

It is important to note the tier of the station you are using as it determines what tier items you can craft:

Crafting Station Tier/Recipe that can be crafted

  • T2: 0-49 Recipes
  • T3: 50-99 Recipes
  • T4: 100-149 Recipes
  • T5: 150+ Recipes

When you are at the crafting station and have the resources, you will want to open the crafting menu and select what you want to craft. Once you’ve selected the item to craft, you can click the blue CRAFT button to craft the item. If you wish to craft more than one you can move the slider above it and select how many you wish to bulk craft. If you are unable to craft the item you want, you will see red text indicating that you do not have enough of the required materials to craft the item and it will say CAN’T CRAFT on the bottom right.

When crafting any kind of armor at the outfitting station you are awarded with Armoring experience. The amount of experience for crafting an item can be found under the craft button on crafting screen. Armoring level cap is 200. Once 200 you can start earning aptitude levels. For more information about that please check out the aptitude guide.

When crafting an item Tier 2 or higher, the first item in the craft must match the same tier as the item you are crafting. For example a Silk Dress (seen below) is a Tier 4 item so it requires the Tier 4 Cloth to craft it as the primary material (Silk, Glintstrands, and Scalecord). The secondary materials are not restricted to the tier requirement making it so you may use lesser or greater tiered materials in the craft. (See our Crafting & Yield Chances guide to see how it affects Gear Score)

Leveling Armoring

Information in this section contains a recommended method to level armoring. There are various ways to achieve 200 armoring, and you are in no way restricted to this method. It’s expected that you will diverge from it depending on material availability, refining proc chances, and market price values.

Proc chances during the refining process are not taken into consideration as it is not the only method of obtaining the materials to craft and the proc chance depends on level & resources used. Some players may want to spend gold to buy all/some of the materials from the trade stations.

Town Board Quests: It is suggested to complete these quests that can be picked up at the town board as they will net you more experience than just crafting items. There are a few problems with leveling using this method. These quests are only updated every 30 minutes, it is possible that an Armoring quest may not be provided, and finally the higher level you get there is an increased chance that the quest might not be on par with your tier (May get a T1 work order when you are at T4 crafting skill).

Using Scraps to Level

You can utilize scraps from a perfect salvage to quickly level any applicable trade skill. This is a great way to obtain a boost to your trade skill experience. To learn all about perfect salvages and how to use scraps you can check out our Perfect Salvage Guide.

Enhancing Your Armoring

Buffs and perks are the 2 main ways to enhance your Armoring. Perks are limited to item type and only being able to have 1 type of perk on the item. For example, an amulet can’t have Armorer Expertise because it is only an Armor Perk.

There exists an Armoring armor set that is ideal for players who want to increase the gear score value on their crafts. The differences between Tier IV and Tier V for the Armorer’s set is purely cosmetic. You are able to mix and match them as you need to gain the buffs you want. The armorer’s sets all come with the Perk Armorer Expertise which increases your armorer Gear Score crafting by +2.

Artifact crafting just requires you to have the item in your bags for the recipe to appear at the crafting station.

Artifacts Items (All require 200 Armoring )

There is only 1 artifact item for Armoring , the Voidbent Ingot, and it crafts many different items. The ingot is also a refined item so you can target farm the materials to make it. It’s needed to craft the heavy (metal), medium (leather), and light (cloth) voidbent armor sets.
