In this New World Void Gauntlet Guide, we’ll take you through the Void Gauntlet Mastery Tree, Recommended Roles, and More!
The Void Gauntlet is a magic weapon that deals Void damage and is scaled off Intelligence primary and Focus secondary. It specializes in dealing damage over time and close range buffs or debuffs and healing depending on your build.
The Void Gauntlet in New World uses mana when using both light and heavy attacks, and abilities. Light attacks cost 2 mana and Heavy attacks cost 5 mana. Mana does not regenerate while you are attacking, but there are ways to manage your mana, and there are mana potions that can be consumed to recover mana quickly.

The two skill trees for the Void Gauntlet are Annihilation and Decay.
The Annihilation tree is centered around getting up close and doing crit damage similar to your standard melee counterparts.
Petrifying Scream is the first ability in this tree, dealing 100% weapon damage and inflicting root on enemies within 5m in front of you. This gets upgraded to gain fortify for each enemy hit stacking up to 3 times and increasing the root duration to 3s if the targets are below 50% health.
Our next ability in the tree is Void Blade which summons a blade of void energy to do light and heavy melee damage. Light attacks do a slash dealing 100% weapon damage and heavy are a thrust attack dealing 150% weapon damage, both attacks inflict Disintegrate on successful hits dealing 5% weapon damage per second and reducing damage absorption by 5% stacking up to 3 times. Upgrading this skill gives you fortify for 5s upon activating the skill, +10% critical damage on Void Blade attacks, and successful thrust attacks will heal the player for 5% weapon damage per Disintegrate stack on the target. This healing is scaled exclusively off focus.
The last ability in this tree is Oblivion summoning a circular rift of void energy at the player’s feet that deals 30% weapon damage per second to enemies and grants Empower to self and friendlies increasing damage by 20%. This has a 5m radius and a 6s duration to start. Upgrading this will also give +15 Stamina per second for the player and allies inside the radius as well as inflicting Weaken on enemies inside the radius reducing their damage by 5% for 5s per hit with a max stack of 3.
Annihilation tree passives include; Forsaken Pact, Keen Confidence, Keen Humility, Refreshing Precision, Efficient Harvest, Empowering Proximity, Leeching agony, and Refreshing Frailty. Depending on your build you might go with Refreshing Precision and Leeching Agony when your critical hit will grant 10% cooldown reduction and health gain on 15% of the damage done. Or Keen Humility 10% increased crit chance while all abilities are on cooldown.
The key passive in this tree is Voidcaller. On successful ability hit gain a stack of Void Essence. At 6 stacks, consume all stacks and gain a 3m aura that heals self and friendlies for 30% weapon damage and deals 30% weapon damage per second to enemies within the radius. The healing scales exclusively off Focus and has a 5s duration and 20s cooldown. This key passive is the most common in the community Void Gauntlet builds. With this passive you gain a 3m aura that heals you and allies for 30% weapon damage scaled off focus and 30% weapon damage to enemies in the aura.
The Decay skill tree and its passives are centered around basic healing and buffing allies.
Baleful Tether fires a projectile that tethers you to an enemy, weakening it and empowering you by 4% per second. The tether ends if the target moves beyond 15m and the duration is 10s. Upgrades apply 100% mana regen while the tether is active and 80% of weapon damage as health if the tethered target dies, scaling exclusively off focus. You will also have reduced cooldowns of other Void Gauntlet abilities by 5% for successful hits against a tethered target.
Next up is the Orb of Decay which fires an unblockable orb that passes through enemies dealing 100% weapon damage and inflicting Disintegrate. This deals 5% weapon damage per second and reduces damage absorption by 5% for 8s stacking up to 3 times. At max range, it transforms into a healing orb and returns, healing friendlies for 20% weapon damage per second for 5s. As before the healing scales exclusively with focus. You can upgrade this to gain 5% mana per enemy hit by the orb and slow enemies already afflicted by any debuff, reducing their movement speed by 30% for 3s.
The final upgrade will allow you to press the ability again to detonate the orb with a 4m explosion radius. Depending on the orp’s phase the explosion will either damage enemies for 100% weapon damage and apply a stack of Disintegrate or heal friendlies for 70% weapon damage scaling exclusively off focus.
The final ability in this tree is Essence Rupture firing a projectile that inflicts Essence Rupture for 10s healing anyone that hits the target for 20% of the damage done. This does not apply to damage over time. Upgrades add 80% healing of your weapon damage when rupture ends to allies within 4m of the afflicted target and players receive 15 stamina when hitting the afflicted target.
Decay tree passives include Deadly Range, Fervent Thirst, Refreshing Harvest, Radiant Efficiency, Leeching Bolts, Extended Suffering, and Mending Evasion. A few notable ones are Radiant Efficiency causing mana costs to be reduced by 25% while above 0% mana, Refreshing Harvest where cooldowns are reduced by 10% per second while performing Harvest Essence, Fervent Thirst gain 5% mana per successful ranged light attack against targets afflicted by your Void Gauntlet debuffs.
The key passive in this tree is Glimpse of the Void this passive will grant a stack of Void Essence per successful ability hit. At 4 or more stacks your next successful ranged heavy attack will instantly reset all Void Gauntlet cooldowns and remove all stacks. This can happen once every 15s.
The three active abilities you will use in this build will be Void Blade, Oblivion, and Orb of Decay for PVE or Petrifying Scream if you are doing PVP.
Void Blade converts your basic light and heavy attacks to melee so you will need to be in melee swing range. Your light attacks will do 100% weapon damage and heavy attacks will do 150% weapon damage. Both attacks will inflict Disintegrate on successful hits, this allows you to also recover 5% weapon damage as health from your heavy attacks, this healing scales off focus as usual. You will also gain fortify and 10% extra crit damage with your blade when attacking.
Oblivion summons a circular rift of Void energy at your feet which will damage and weaken enemies as well as grant you and allies 15 stamina per second and an empower buff increasing damage. This is a 6m radius so you will want to be in close proximity to your allies, great when up close with your Void Blade
Orb of Decay is the recommended choice for PVE. This fires an unblockable projectile that deals damage, inflicts Disintegrate, slows enemies and grants you mana per enemy hit. At max range it will transform into a healing orb and returns healing friendlies which scales off focus. You can press the ability again to detonate the orb with a 4m explosion, depending on the phase the orb is in damage or healing it will either damage enemies or heal allies so timing this to meet your group needs makes this a powerful ability.
If you decide to go the PVP route then swapping Orb of Decay out for Petrifying Scream is recommended as you most likely will not get the chance to use Orb of Decay to its full potential. Petrifying Scream allows you to use a directional scream to root and stagger enemies in place up to 3s if they are under 50% health and gain fortify for each enemy hit. This is perfect when you can get a player’s health low so they can’t run.
Some of the key passives in this build increase your crit chance when above 50% health or crit damage when below 50% mana as well as reduced cooldowns and healing for critical hits. If you are casting your abilities while within 5m of enemies you gain empower.
The Void Gauntlet scales primarily off Intelligence and secondary off of Focus, so pairing the Void Gauntlet with another weapon that scales off Intelligence is recommended but the Life Staff is the only other weapon that pairs off Focus and this can be a great tool for the healer builds to have some damage when solo.
You can reference our builds section for specific Void Gauntlet pairings and builds that other players in the community are using. As of writing this the majority of builds are Life Staff primary and Void Gauntlet secondary.
AoE, AoE, and more AoE! Void Gauntlet will have you covered with the AoE needed for solo farming and the self healing to keep yourself alive with large pulls. You will want to follow the Annihilation Mastery Tree for leveling. You will start with Void Blade for your first ability as will it heal you later, followed by Oblivion for some AoE damage and some survivability, and finally get Petrifying Scream for your third ability. Once you have them I would suggest fully investing into Void Blade so you can heal yourself while using that ability. Alternatively if you need healing sooner than later you can put points into Leeching Agony. (Just depends on how big of pulls you are doing) Oblivion’s first ability, Withering Oblivion, will be ideal next to further help with your survivability with AoE pulls.
Once you have Leeching Agony you will want to focus on things that will give you increased crit chance so that you have more chances to heal yourself when dealing out damage randomly. Passive Mastery Perk such as Keen Humility is one that you can invest into. Additionally you can try to get the Weapon Perk Keen which flat out increases your crit chance based upon the gear score level of the item it’s attached to.

Every Weapon Ability in New World has a corresponding Perk that can be found on armor and weapons. Most of the perks scale in power with the Gear Score of the item they are on. It’s important to note that you can only benefit from one instance of a weapon ability perk at a time. You can obtain the weapon perks randomly from drops or you can craft gear with the specific perk on it. You can enhance your chance at obtaining a specific perk by utilizing mods. Additionally you can enhance your chance at obtaining your perk with the right stats by using the timeless shards.
It is recommended that you apply the specific weapon perks to your armor because these perks can be applied to either the weapon the perks pertain to or any piece of armor. There are other perks, such as, enchanted and vicious that can only be applied to weapons. Perk slots for your weapons should be reserved for the perks that can only be applied to weapons. Voracious Blade VG Perk is also a decent one to have for self-healing as it will increase the amount healed by 10% over the 5% while your health is below 50%. These suggestions are not mandatory for leveling the Void Gauntlet, however, it will help out immensely if you have them for solo play.

The type of gem you will want to slot into your Void Gauntlet is heavily dependent upon your build and what you’re trying to accomplish. If you are pairing this with a Life Staff you would likely want to go with the Amber gem to get the extra damage from Focus. The Opal is a universally recommended choice due to the uptime of the damage increase you’ll receive.
A few good overall recommendations for Void Gauntlet would include:
– Diamond: X% damage and outgoing healing while at full health
– Emerald: +X% damage against targets with less than 30% health
