What is a Camp in New World

In New World you can build a camp while traversing the wilderness. A camp is incredibly useful as it serves as a re-spawn point if you die (there's a respawn timer for PvP - more about that below), you can rest at a camp to regain HP quickly, and you can craft basic items at your camp.

How to Gain Access to Your Camp

In order to obtain the ability to place down a camp you must first complete a series of quests in order to unlock the ability to do so.

Once you wash up on the shores of Aeternum you’ll be guided through a series of beginner quests on the beach. You will need to complete those quests. If you do not complete those quests you will not be able to access the quests in town. So, do not skip these.

Once you complete the first few quests you will then be directed to the closest town. You will need to continue to progress through the quest line and you’ll eventually be directed to the survivalist. Once you’re directed to the survivalist in your applicable starter town you’ll be able to complete the quest that will grant you the ability to craft your camp in the wild.

If you want to see the series of quests you’ll need to complete based on which starter area you spawn into check out the quest database here.

Very important to note that you can only utilize your camp as a respawn point if it is within 500 meters of your character.

How to Place Your Camp & Restricted Landmarks

Once you gain the ability to craft your camp you will then craft it by finding a good spot outside of town and pressing the default key “Y.” This will then give you a ghost camp that you can place. It's important to note that you will not be able to place a camp within a landmark. The landmarked areas can be identified on your map by dotted or dashed outlines of a specific area. You must be outside of that area in order to place your camp, and you must be on semi-even ground for for the camp placement to work.

Once placed you will then need 5 wood and 1 flint in order to actually craft the camp. Once you have the materials, you’ll need to approach your ghost camp and press the default key of “E” in order to actually build your camp. Once constructed you will have to take a couple steps back away from your camp in order to fully complete the construction of your camp. Once your camp is constructed you can then rest at your camp by pressing the default key of “T” and the default key of "E" to craft.

How to Upgrade Your Camp in New World

Your camp can be upgraded from Tier I up to Tier V. In order to upgrade your camp you must reach the appropriate level milestone to unlock the quest that must be completed in order to unlock your next tier of camp. The quests can be obtained at the following milestones

Level 5 – Camping Tier 1 - First Survivalist Quest (Quest is dependent upon starting territory)
Level 15 – Camping Tier 2 - "Survivalist: Friends in Fashion Quest"
Level 25 – Camping Tier 3 - "Survivalist: Animal Instincts Quest"
Level 40 – Camping Tier 4 - "Survivalist: Lupine Observations Quest"
Level 55 – Camping Tier 5 - "Survivalist: Fading Lights Quest"

Additionally, if you are unsure where you are at in the quest chain, you can always check it in your character UI and hover over the camp there. Doing so will let you know what quest you will need to complete to further level your camp.

Crafting at Your Camp

You can craft basic items at your camp including a tier 1 wooden longsword, flint arrows, flint tools, basic fishing bait. You can not craft higher than tier 1 tools or a tier 1 sword at the camp regardless of the camps level. You can craft both mana and health recovery food up to tier V, but you must have the appropriate tier camp, the necessary materials, and have the appropriate level in cooking. You can not craft any attribute, trade skill food, or dyes at your camp.

You can also craft Health Recovery, Mana Recover, Blight Tinctures and Corruption Tinctures all the way up to tier 5. You must have the appropriate tier camp, the necessary materials, and the appropriate level in Arcana in order to do so. You can not craft any magical weapons or any other potions, tinctures, or coatings at your camp. You must be at an Arcana station of the appropriate tier in order to do so.

Using Your Camp While Flagged for PvP

There are some important differences for your camp respawning while flagged for PvP
  • When flagged for PvP, choosing to respawn at a camp activates an incrementally-increasing respawn cooldown.
    • For each subsequent camp respawn, this cooldown increases.
    • If the player chooses to respawn elsewhere (for instance, at a settlement), the cooldown will continue counting down in the background.
      • If the player dies while flagged for PvP while the cooldown is counting down, the time increment will be added to the current value.
      • This makes respawning at a settlement and running back into the fray a great way for players to lower their camp cooldown.

How to Obtain and Apply a Skin to Your Camp in New World

You can obtain a skin for you camp in one of two ways. You can purchase one of the available skins from the cash shop, or you can craft one via the furnishing profession at a workshop.

In order to apply the camp skin you simply need to open up your inventory and click on the camp icon beneath your consumables slots. You will be able to click on "Change Skin" which will bring up a menu of the available skins you can apply to your camp.
