New World Consumables Guide
Updated as of 11/18/2021
New World has a diverse selection of consumables to offer to it's players, complimenting its in-depth crafting system. This guide is intended to showcase the types of consumables and their use in New World.
In this guide you will find information about the following consumables: Food - Recovery; Attribute; Trade Skill Potions- Every Variety (potions, weapon coatings, and resistance consumables) Proficiency Booster Honing Stones Incense Gemstone Dust Oakflesh Balm Dyes Tuning Orbs Repair Kits Ammunition
Food is the main way to obtain health, mana, and stamina regeneration in New World. Food can also provide a boost to your primary stat of choice, and there's also trade skill foods that give you a boost to both gathering and crafting trades. Food can be looted or crafted by the cooking profession. For an in depth look at food and the cooking profession you can check out our complete cooking guide.
Recovery Food Recovery Food in the form of health and mana recovery in New World can be Crafted at a Kitchen or a Camp of the appropriate Tier. Stamina recovery food can only be crafted at a kitchen of the appropriate tier. Recovery foods are a very important resource that provides a recovery buff that lasts from 20 minutes up to 40 minutes for Tier V recovery food.
You can also consume recovery food to gain X amount of health, mana, or stamina over 20 seconds (the amount you gain scales with the tier of food). The recovery stops if you take damage. Recovery foods can not be stacked. If you consume a health recovery food and then consume a mana recovery food the mana recovery food will override the health recovery food. There are 3 different types of Recovery Foods in New World as follows:
Attribute Food Attribute food can be crafted at a Kitchen of the appropriate Tier. When an attribute food is consumed, it will provide the player with an attribute buff according to the attributes associated with that food. There are attribute foods that increase multiple attributes, and there are attribute specific foods that will increase one attribute but by an increased amount. When consumed, the attribute food will provide the attribute buff for 25 up to 40 minutes depending on the tier of food consumed. The amount of attribute points you receive can be up to 40 for a specific attribute depending on the tier and type of food consumed.
It's important to point out that when attribute food is consumed if you hit an attribute threshold for a bonus you will receive that attribute bonus. For example, if you have 260 strength and you consume a roasted gnufish your strength would then hit the 300 threshold and you would receive the bonuses associated with that threshold.
Attribute food is broken up as follows (These are the tier V variants - to see all the tier variants available you can check our database):
Trade Skill Food Trade Skill food can be crafted at a Kitchen of the appropriate Tier. There's trade skill food for both the crafting and gathering professions. It's important to note that there is not any trade skill food for Cooking or Fishing, and trade skill foods are not available for any of the refining professions.
When a crafting food is consumed your minimum and maximum gear score while crafting with that profession will be increased by a specified amount that will be determined by the tier of food consumed. For example, consuming a Savory Vegetable Medley will increase your minimum and maximum gear score while crafting weaponsmithing items by 15, and the effects will last 40 minutes. Because this is directly related to gear score and cooking does not have a gear score associated with the items there is no cooking trade skill food.
These trade skill foods will be essential to end game crafting to boost you up to crafting maximum gear score items. Trade Skill food consists of the following (These are the tier V variants - to see all the tier variants available you can check our database):
The other variant of trade skill food consists of gathering foods. Gathering foods increase your luck for that specific gathering skill by a specified amount based on the tier of food consumed, and last for a specified period of time based on tier as well. Gathering foods are incredibly important in order to obtain rare resources that would otherwise be incredibly difficult, and sometimes impossible to obtain without the use of additional luck. The gathering foods consist of the following (These are the tier V variants - to see all the tier variants available you can check our database):
