About

NewWorldFans was founded and is currently run by a single person: Takyn.

I'm a software developer with a life-long passion for gaming - my first MMO was Meridian 59 which I started playing in 1997. I've played pretty much every major MMO since then and I've been involved with several fansites over the years. From 2013 - 2019 I was living abroad with very bad internet, so my online gaming activities were reduced drastically. After moving back to Europe I had the burning desire to immerse myself fully in a new MMO and New World was shaping up to be the most promising game on the horizon.

During most of my gaming time I've been playing with a European guild called Ginnunga. The guild was established in 1999, I joined around 2007, and despite that fact the guild is still going strong today, usually playing multiple MMOs as well as more casual games together. I also take care of the guild website, although certain people would argue that I've broken it more often than not.

I started NewWorldFans with the goal to provide the community with everything that you would expect from a traditional fansite. I do 100% of the coding myself, I take care of hosting, and I create most of the content. I do all this while working a regular full-time job and still trying to find some time to actually play. Luckily I have some help, and I want to credit my guild mates for their support and help with content, the guys over at StudioLoot for various help (the results to be revealed soon), and my wife for the design and some project management (a.k.a butt-kicking).

If you have any problems with the website, the Discord or Twitch bots, or want to leave some feedback, I'd be really happy to hear from you. Many features that I worked on are the direct result of someone in the community asking about it.

Ads & Support

If you are not running an ad-blocker (thank you!), you undoubtedly noticed the ads. Ads are a necessity to keep the websites we use on a daily basis alive. It's hard to monetize a gaming fansite and hosting costs are a lot more expensive than most people would expect, especially since I've opted to go completely custom-made. While this gives me a lot of flexibility and power to create the kinds of tools I want, it also means increased hosting requirements. The site right now is a hobby project for me, which eats up a significant chunk of my free time and personal funds. The ads are nowhere near enough to cover that.

For that reason I've created a Patreon. I try to add some value to the supporter tiers, such as promoting your New World company on the website. If you wish to support me on Patreon I'd be very grateful and you'll be able to use the website without any ads. I may introduce other ways to support the website in the future, as well as more, optional Patreon-features.
