Monoecious Cleft Overview

The Monoecious Cleft  or Spriggan Arena in New World is located in the Eastern part of Edengrove, just north of the Elysian Shrine. This is an end game arena intended for a group of 5 to complete. Upon entering this arena you will face the Spriggan boss named Zygoramet. Like the other Arena’s and Expeditions in New World you will need a tuning orb to access the Arena. The tuning orb will be consumed upon entering the Arena, and only player in the group needs to have the orb for the group to enter.

How to obtain the Monoecious Cleft Tuning Orb

You can obtain the Monecious Tuning Orb for free one time by completing the questline that begins with the quest  “Fading Lights.” You can obtain this quest from Derek Wardall in Edengrove. Follow the questline until you reach the quest called “Threat of Life.” Upon completion of Threat of Life you will be rewarded with a Monoecious Tuning Orb for the Spriggan Arena.

Arena tuning orbs also have a  low-chance drop rate from Elite AI enemies in Malevolence, Forecastle Drift, Spires of Melpomene, and Eternal Pool.

You can also craft the Monecious Tuning Orb utilizing the stonecutting profession. In order to craft the Tuning Orb you must have stonecutting level 50 or above, and use a stonecutting table that is tier 4 or higher. There is a threshold of crafting 5 orbs at a time. If you craft 5 orbs at a time you will have to wait 7 days to craft them again.

Recommended Consumables & Trophies

The Zygoramet is an Angry Earth mob type. Therefore, the following consumables (in addition to Health, Regeneration, and Mana Potions) are recommended when fighting in this Arena to help you maximize your damage output.

You can also utilize Infused Angry Earth Ward Potions if you feel like you need the additional damage mitigation.

Recommended Weapons and Damage Types

In order to maximize damage output for an Angry Earth mob type you would want to utilize weapons that deal slash damage and fire damage. Slotting a Ruby into your weapon (except fire staff) will also help you maximize your DPS against this mob type.

Utilizing a weapon that has the Angry Earth Bane Perk on it can help increase your DPS in this arena as well.

You would want to stay away from weapons that deal thrust or lightning damage as these damage types will do reduced damage to the Angry Earth mob type.

You can reference our Damage Type vs Mob Type Quick chart for a full list of damage types vs each mob type.

Arena Boss Guide

Upon entering the arena you will be facing Zygoramet. This boss is ultimately a DPS check. The main mechanic is the cage mechanic. Zygoramet will go into a cage periodically throughout the fight and while in the cage he will heal himself for a significant amount. The longer he’s in the cage the more he heals. Your group will have to break the cage by attacking it so the more damage you can output the less healing the boss will receive. It’s important to go into this fight with proper coatings, trophies, and weapons so you can break the cage easier and mitigate the healing the boss does.

The boss can do quite a lot of damage with his wide AOE and smashing swings with his club in the beginning of the fight. You will simply want to have your tank taunt and tank the damage while your DPS is aware of and dodges or blocks some of the large swinging AOE’s with his club.

Once he reaches about 75% health he will go into the first cage. You will need to DPS the cage down as quickly as possible. He will then pop out of the cage and you will just need to have your tank regain aggro, tank damage, and continue to DPS the boss.

Also be aware of his extending arm and jump smash mechanics. Periodically he will jump in the air smashing down onto the ground which will deal AOE damage to all around him. If your DPS are close they will need to dodge or block this attack.

His arm will also grow very large and extend out across the arena from time to time hitting players at range. This attack is telegraphed and can be blocked or dodged.

In summary, Tank gains aggro, DPS does damage up to certain marks until the boss goes into the cage, DPS the cage to break it and to prevent healing, rinse and repeat until he’s dead.
